It pleased God Almighty to call from labor to reward our loved one, Willie Rogers Smith, on Monday, January19, 2026. Willie was born to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie Jr. and Geneva Blackmon Smith on December 3, 1963. He was the fourth child of this union.
Willie grew up in the Goshen community where he had lived his entire life until moving to Lake Crossing three years ago. He attended school in Lincoln County and proudly graduated with the Lincoln County High School Class of 1981. After finishing high school, he was a dedicated worker, spending 22 years with the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he made a lasting impact through his commitment and work ethic.
Willie was an avid fan of the Lincoln County Red Devils. He had a special fondness for family functions, where his laughter resonated and memories were built. The Great China Restaurant was a favorite dining spot for Willie. An active member of New Tabernacle Baptist Church and served faithfully on the NTBC Usher Ministry. Willie found purpose and pride in his faith.
Throughout his life, Willie reveled in the joys of family gatherings, sharing many special moments with his only surviving brother, John Thomas "Buck" Smith, alongside numerous aunts—Emma R. Dooley, Mary Blackmon Andrews, Idell Andrews, Glenda D McCord, Evangelist Gladys Ferguson (Dave), Juanita Smith, and Leila Smith—and his uncle, Roy Smith (Penny). He was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, sister Tammie Gartrell.
