William Herbert Reed

Mr. William Herbert Reed, Sr., 88, fondly known as "Pic and Piccolo" passed away at his home on Reed Rd., Lincolnton on Sunday, December 10, 2017.

Mr. Reed, son of the late John Henry  and Elsie Spires Reed, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.  After over 41 years of service, he retired from Milliken McCormick Mill, and for over 50 years, he had been a Master Mason and member of Lincolnton F&AM #354. He loved fishing and camping and did so until age 87. He was a loving husband, father and "Papa" to his grandchildren. His grandson, Caz Reed Dorn, daughter-in-law, Laura Hammond Reed and brothers, Grady Reed, Charles Reed and S.T. Reed, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosa Mae Meeks Reed; daughter, Sharon Reed Dorn and husband, Johncy; sons, William H. "Billy" Reed, Jr and Steven L. Reed and wife, Debbra; grandchildren, Lori Holliday, Stephanie Reed Partridge and husband, Scott, Dalton Reed, Garrett Reed, Austin Reed and wife, Tracy, Crafton Reed; great- grandchildren, Fortson Partridge, Will Partridge, Hailey Holliday, Brooklyn Reed; one great- great grandchild, Landon Griffin; brother, Johnny Reed and wife, Frances, sisters, Carolyn Fletcher and husband, George, Shirley Hancock and husband, Knute, and Katherine Reed.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday evening at Beggs Funeral Home 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, Phone: 706-359-4117
