Thomson, GA-Mr. William Virlyn Neal, 79, of Wisham Rd. entered into rest April 6, 2014.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lester Jenkins officiating.
Mr. Neal was born in Appling, GA and lived most of his life in McDuffie County, GA. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on a minesweeper and retired from Civil Service at Ft. Gordon after many years of service. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Neal enjoyed gardening, cattle farming and loved children. He was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Joan Neal; son, Bill Neal of Thomson; daughters, Tammy Burke of Thomson and Jackie Beckum and husband, Jackie of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Anna Belle Neal of Thomson; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin L. Neal and Kathleen Tankersley Neal; brothers, Edward Neal, John Harold Neal; sister, Patty Neal McClammy; son, David Hicks and daughter, Elaine Langham.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:45 p.m., Tuesday prior to the graveside service at the funeral home.
Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, GA is in charge of arrangements.
