Thomson, Georgia - Mr. William Cary Mayfield, 58, of Shields Pond Rd., Thomson, GA entered into rest February 15, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Mayfield was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Dr. George R. Mayfield and the late Janie Hillman Evans. He was a graduate of Thomson High School and he returned to Thomson in 1999. Mr. Mayfield was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomson and had worked for Temple Industries, King Mill, and HP Pelzer. He was the Human Resources Manager for Georgia Pacific. Mr. Mayfield was a faithful and devoted husband; father, uncle and he loved his family very much.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathy Jo Mayfield; son, Joseph "Joey" Cary Mayfield; daughter, Jordon Elizabeth Mayfield, all of Thomson, GA; his brothers, Dr. Stephen R. Mayfield (Dr. Erin C. Mayfield) of Oxford, GA and David B. Mayfield (Kay) of Mableton, GA; and brother-in-law and best friend, Roy Dye (Gail) of Thomson, GA.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Widener officiating.

It is the family's request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
