Mr. William Clay Lancaster Jr., known affectionately as Clay, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, in Tignall, Georgia, at the age of 71. Born on May 28, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late William C. "Bill" Lancaster Sr. and Susie Bailey Lancaster, Clay was a man of integrity, warmth, and a contagious zest for life that left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Clay grew up in the Augusta area, where he attended Evans High School, graduating in 1971. His academic journey continued at Augusta College and then he honorably served his country in the Air Force for seven years. His dedication to his nation was mirrored in his professional life, where he worked as a chemist at the Savannah River Site, contributing to important scientific advancements. Beyond his professional achievements, Clay was a man of many passions. An amateur photographer, he had a keen eye for capturing the beauty of the world around him. Clay's musical talents were a gift to many; he was a talented singer who sang tenor in church choirs, sharing his love for music and faith with those around him. Raised Southern Baptist, Clay's spiritual journey led him to attend many churches, embracing a community of faith that supported him throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his children, Sandy, Bill and Peter Lancaster; grandchildren, Skylar Lancaster and Peyton Wilkins; sisters, Jean and Joan Lancaster; and his fiancée and caregiver, Mi Cha Majors. In his final years, Clay moved to the lake in Lincoln County from Grovetown, embracing the tranquility and community spirit of his new home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11am at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton with graveside services following at 3pm at Sunshine Methodist Church, 300 Sunshine Church Rd., Toccoa, Ga. 30577
