William "Billy" Jarvis Tam, 75, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on September 5, 2022.
Billy was born in Augusta, Georgia on April 20, 1947. He moved to Thomson in 1964 and lived most of his life there. He graduated from Thomson High School and earned an Associate's Degree at Augusta Technical College. He was a self-employed General Contractor who spent his career crafting custom homes throughout the area. Billy was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church, where he taught children's Sunday School, worked with youth, participated in men's prayer group, and served as an usher. He was a faithful follower of the Lord. He was also involved with Habitat for Humanity and missions, including a trip to Haiti. Billy supported Scouting, serving as a Webelos leader. He enjoyed spending time with his Lord and Savior and was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting deer, ducks and observing all types of wildlife.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, James Elton Tam, Sr. and Ladessa Usry Tam; his brothers, Perry Hugh Tam, James E. Tam, Jr., Michael Keith Tam, and his sister, Shirley Gail Kelso. His survivors include his, wife of 55 years, Nan Neal Tam; his son William Neal Tam (Connie); his daughter, Michelle Tam Braddy (Randy); his brothers, Gary Tam (Sharon) and Stan Tam (Kim); his sister, Brenda Jean Hughes; his grandchildren, Jefferson Bailey Tam (Becca), Caitlyn Tam Wells, (Luke), Kaylee Nicole Tam, Chloe Madison Braddy, Mercer Claire Braddy, and William Randal Braddy and a great grandchild, Arilyn Ruth Wells.
His visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, Georgia. His Celebration of Life will be held at Thomson First United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Steve Dodson will be officiating. Box 8, Thomson, Georgia 30824; or the Thomson Family YMCA, 521 West Hill Street, Thomson, Georgia 30824.
