William Hunt

William "Billy" Hunt Thomson, GA - Mr. William Erby "Billy" Hunt, Jr., 81 entered into rest October 4, 2010 at University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Kinney "Dot" Hunt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from the First Baptist Church with Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Leroy, Don Newsome, Buddy Haddon, James Talkington, Bobby Jones, Fred Perdue, Beeman Barnett, Joe McCommons, Milton Goldman and Jerry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class. A lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Georgia, Mr. Hunt was the son of the late William Erby Hunt, Sr. and the late Lula Laseter Hunt. After serving for many years as the bookkeeper for the McNeal-Lauff-McNeill Box Factory, he retired as bookkeeper for Boswell-Hayes Oil Company. Since 1945 Mr. Hunt had been a faithful member of the Thomson First Baptist Church where he had served faithfully as a deacon and a member of the Men's Bible Class. Mr. Hunt was a graduate of Georgia Military College and had served as a captain in the United States Army National Guard. He had also been an active volunteer with area troups of the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include his son, William Erby "Bill" Hunt, III and wife Tammy of Hephzibah, GA; daughter, Karen Hunt Williams and husband Scott of Thomson, GA; sister, Maxine Strickland and husband Walt of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Taylor Marshall Williams and Harper Alexis Williams; and aunt Carolyn Hunt of Thomson, GA.
