William Robert Hall Retired Teacher and Tax Assessor Thomson, GA. - Mr. William Robert Hall, 81 of Huntington Rd. N.E. entered into rest December 20, 2011 at his residence surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 23, 2011 in the Knox Chapel of the Thomson First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Barnes officiating. Interment to be held in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. William Robert Hall was born and raised in Warren County, Georgia and was the son of the late Robert Hill Hall and the late Mae Gunn Hall. After attending West Georgia College, Mr. Hall enlisted in the U. S. Navy for four years and served as Quartermaster on the USS Bayfield during the Korean Conflict, serving in Japan and the USA. Was graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. degree in Business and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. A retired teacher from Warren County High School, Mr. Hall also served as a former Warren County Tax Assessor. He was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church, an avid golfer with what he called "the Geriatric crowd" at Belle Meade Country Club, and he enjoyed life, living and traveling out west. Mr. Hall is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen Burney Hall; son Robert Burney "Bob" Hall and wife, Julie of LaGrange, KY; daughter, Janet Hall Herbert of Evans, GA; and grandchildren, Burney Gillingham Herbert, Robert Brian Hall, and Randi Nicole Hall.
