William T. "Billy" Wilkes, Sr.

Mr. William T. "Billy" Wilkes, Sr.,  84 of Lewis Family Rd., died Friday, August 12, 2016 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Wilkes, son of the late William Franklin and Annie Wright Wilkes was born on December 11, 1931 in Lincoln County. He served in the U.S. Navy, was self employed and operated Wilkes Texaco for 30 years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Caroline Wilkes Tankersley.

He is survived by his wife : Susan Chrisman Wilkes

Son: William Thomas "Billy" Wilkes, II and wife, Sheila of Lincolnton

Daughter: Myra Wilkes Searles and husband, Chris of  Roswell

Grandchildren: Amberly Nicole Wilkes, William Thomas "Will"  Wilkes, III, and Christopher York "Cy" Searles, II

Brother: Robert F. "Chigger" Wilkes of  Lincolnton Sisters: Shirley Wilkes May of Thomson and Virginia Wilkes Beasley and husband, Donnie of Augusta
