William E. "Bill" Abbott
Thomson, Georgia - Mr. William E. "Bill" Abbott, 83, entered into rest March 9, 2016.
Mr. Abbott was born in Alamo, GA but lived in Thomson, GA most of his life. He was the son of the late Andrew Jordan Abbott and the late Sallie Mae Fowler Abbott. Mr. Abbott served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired as a Sergeant First Class with 25 years of service. He worked with National Homes and was a retired courier for Regions Bank. Mr. Abbott was a faithful and devoted member of Washington Heights Baptist Church and served as a Deacon and past Sunday School Director. In addition to his parents, Mr. Abbott was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Pilgrim Abbott, his daughter, Peggy Abbott and granddaughter, Kristen Faith Lokey.
Survivors include his son, Mike Abbott (Barbara) of Thomson; daughter, Linda Barnett (Mickey) of Newberry, SC; brother, Jerry Abbott of Atlanta, GA; sister, Jewelene Abbott of Dublin, GA; 6 grandchildren, Chris Abbott, Hope Abbott Gunter, Lee Barnett, Chad Barnett, Lacey Lokey Hughes, and Tyler Lokey; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock, p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at Washington Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Reginald Blakewood, Rev. Doug Thompson and Rev. Rodney Peavy officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
