Will Rabun Smith, 23, of Thomson, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord on May 13, 2021.
Will was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and the son of Chris and Kristy Smith and brother of Taylor Smith.
His love for animals began at age four when he got his first horse named "Polka-A-Dot". At the young age of six, Will began playing drums and ministering for Christ. As a self-taught composer and musician, he played the drums, piano, keyboard and guitar. Growing up, he became an advanced skateboarder and took his skateboard with him everywhere. After attending school at Briarwood Academy and graduating from Thomson High School in 2016, he toured from the East Coast to the West Coast as a drummer for the band "Half-Seas Over". He also traveled to the Bahamas, Sweden, Denmark and Canada.
As co-owner of Smith Wire Solutions, Will became a skilled welder and excavator operator. He and his family spent the past five years travelling to all but seven states inspecting cellular towers and installing fiber optic cable.
Will had even attended bull-riding school and lived his life like the words in the song by Tim McGraw "Live Like You Were Dying". He seized every opportunity to share his gift and love for the Lord. He was an active member of The Old Frontier, where he served on the Board of Directors.
Preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jimmy Smith, he is survived by his parents, Chris and Kristy Smith; his brother, Taylor Smith; his paternal grandmother, Beth Smith; his maternal grandparents, Bobby and Jane Wilkerson; and his girlfriend, Hailee Prince.
A Celebration of Will's Life will be held at The Old Frontier, 1965 Old Milledgeville Road, Thomson, Georgia on Thursday evening, May 20, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. with interment following. The family will receive friends following the services.
In Will's Memory, memorial contributions may be made to The Old Frontier, P. O. Box 1714, Thomson, Georgia, 30824.
