Walter William Mayo
Douglas, GA-Mr. Walter William Mayo, 81, formerly of Warrenton, GA, entered into rest October 26, 2013 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in the Chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Tony Mimbs, Tony Mayo and Rev. Mike Dann officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Seth Bland, Sy Raulerson, Dalton Raulerson, Walt Day, Will Mayo, Scott Anderson and Matt Spacek.
Mr. Mayo was a native of Warren County, Georgia and was the son of the late Clyde Mayo and the late Hazel Brewer Mayo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Mayo was a retired plant superintendent with Georgia Pacific where he worked at many different plant locations and had over 25 years of service. He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church in Douglas. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcon fan, enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Tina Mayo of Douglas; son, Tony Mayo and wife, Anna of Milledgeville; daughters, Teresa Mimbs and husband, Tony of Warrenton, Tina Bland and husband, Melton of Warrenton, Tonya Raulerson and husband, Lawrence of Pembroke, Tammy Logue and husband, Ted of Douglas; brothers, Horace Mayo of Norwood, Bobby Mayo of Martinez; sister, Shirley Ann Moore of Norwood; eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Mayo.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 at the funeral home.
