Walter Carl “Walt” Armour

Walter Carl “Walt” Armour, age 66, of Lincolnton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Walt was the beloved son of the late Carl Armour and Joyce Maner Armour. Following the loss of his father in 1967 and his mother in 1970, he was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Jessie “Buck” Wells and Margaret Wells, who helped shape the values that guided him throughout his life.

He was a 1978 graduate of Lincoln County High School. He later attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and went on to earn his certification as an electrician from Athens Technical College. Walt valued practical knowledge and took pride in building a life through perseverance, skill, and dedication. He lived simply and found joy in work, family, farming and the everyday moments that meant the most to him. 

Over the years, Walt worked at several places, including Crider’s, W.F. Hall Printing, Mattison and Associates, and Big Country Surveying. He was dependable, hardworking, and respected by those who worked alongside him. He was known for his strong work ethic and easygoing nature. 

Walt was kindhearted, generous and always willing to help someone in need. He was a loyal friend who cared about those around him and never missed an opportunity to make others laugh. He had a story for every occasion and a remarkable memory that allowed him to recall people, places, and events from years past with vivid detail. He enjoyed classic television, especially Westerns such as Gunsmoke, and he also loved The Andy Griffith Show and other timeless favorites. These simple pleasures reflected the life he lived, one rooted in familiarity, comfort, and appreciation for the things that endure.

 Above all, Walt loved his family. They were the center of his world, and he always put them first. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in each one of them. His love, laughter, stories, and caring spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his family, Meg Burg and husband John, Bill Bradford and wife Maria, and Heather Metress and husband Darren. 

He is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Brittany Brown and husband Mark, Alex Bradford and wife BreeAnne, Audra Bradford Mohr, and Elizabeth Metress, as well as his great-nieces, Millie, Blaze, Addie, and Bella.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and physicians at the Piedmont Augusta Heart Failure Center for the exceptional care they provided to Walt following his LVAD placement three years ago. They are also deeply thankful to the nurses and staff at the Cardiovascular Center at Piedmont Hospital for their compassion, dedication, and support throughout his journey. Walt was a favorite patient among those who cared for him, and his nurses often said he was a bright spot in their day, always greeting them with a smile, a kind word, and never a complaint. The family will always treasure the friendships, comfort, and outstanding care he received.

In recent months, Walt experienced a serious health crisis that brought him closer to Jesus and deepened his faith in meaningful ways. Though he was not expected to survive his hospital stay, he returned home and, in a beautiful reflection of his love for others, planned a birthday celebration just a couple of weeks ago so he could say farewell to family and friends before leaving this world. Walt will be remembered as a friendly, generous, and good-hearted man who lived with humility and grace. His presence brought warmth to the lives around him, and his memory will remain a blessing to his family and friends.

A private service will be held on Buck Wells Farm at a later date.
