Thomson, GA- Mr. Walter L. Candler, 98, of Whiteoak Rd. entered into rest June 21, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013 in the Chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Ginny Best officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Thomson.

Mr. Candler was born in Lincoln County, Georgia and was the son of the late Walter Linton Candler and the late Mary Nancy Strother Candler. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He lived most of his life in McDuffie County and was a retired building contractor. Mr. Candler was also a founding member of Young Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Ruth Young Candler; daughter, Jeanie McCuin and husband, Ralph of St. Simons,  GA and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 until  5:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
