William Thomas Griffith, Sr.
Mr. William Thomas "Griff" Griffith, Sr., 82, of Jonesboro, Ga. died at home October 11, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Griffith was born August 21, 1930 in Warren County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Inus Howard Griffith and Ruby Mae Watson Griffith. He was retired from Clayton County D.O.T., as well as helped establish Leach Sand and Gravel for over 30 years, was a member of the Brick Layers Local Union 33 since 1954, and served with the Clayton County law enforcement under Chief Howard Smith back in the 1970's.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Beverly Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Lee Frazee and son-in-law, Delbert "Don" Frazee, III of Jonesboro, Ga.; brother, Inus Howard Griffith of Jackson; sister, Cornelia Neil Hinton of Thomson; grandchildren, Delbert D. Frazee, IV, Tabitha A. Frazee; great grandchild, Aiden D. Frazee and five other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Lee Newsome Griffith and sons, W.T. Griffith, Jr., John David Griffith; brothers, Robert Pierce Griffith, Franklin Eugene Griffith, and sisters, Ella Mae and Mae Bette.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Beggs Funeral Home.
