Vera Myers Harper, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Piedmont Augusta. Born on August 30, 1946, in Lincolnton, Georgia, Vera was the daughter of the late Tillman and Virginia Holcomb Myers. Vera grew up in Lincolnton where she graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1964. Afterwards, she attended nursing school. After graduating, she dedicated a few years of her life to caring for others as an LPN at Wills Memorial Hospital. Her career path led her to work at several textile plants in Washington before returning to Wills Memorial Hospital, where she spent twenty fulfilling years in the accounts payable department. Vera met the love of her life at a dance at the American Legion in Lincolnton, got married and moved to her husband's family property in the Delhi Community of Wilkes County where they raised their family and resided ever since. Her commitment to church and her community was evident in her active involvement. She served as the secretary of Memory Lane Cruisers and was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church. At the church, she contributed her time and talents as both a Sunday School teacher and treasurer, roles that she carried out with grace and dedication. Vera's love for the mountains was a passion that began in her childhood, with her parents introducing her to their beauty through day trips. This love blossomed throughout her life as she treasured visits to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Maggie Valley with her husband and family but most recently, her favorite place to visit was the North Georgia Mountains. Her appreciation for music, especially gospel and country, was immense. Vera was always eager to attend a concert or a "singing," as she fondly referred to them. A particular highlight for her was seeing Gene Watson perform annually at the Little Roy and Lizzy Music Festival. A testament to her loving nature, Vera's love for her husband and family was unparalleled. She leaves behind her cherished cats, Harper, Little Man and Alley Cat who were a big part of her life.
Her pride in her grandchildren and great- grandchildren was immense. Vera's role as a grandmother- great grandmother was one she cherished deeply, and her influence on her grandchildren's lives will be a lasting legacy. Vera Myers Harper will be remembered as a loving and thoughtful individual, whose presence brought comfort and happiness to all who knew her. Her commitment to her faith, family, and community will serve as an inspiration to those she leaves behind. Survivors include her husband James E. Harper, Sr.; son, James E.
