Mr. Tracy Haskell Brown
Lincolnton, GA
Tracy Haskell Brown, 83, loving husband of Thelma Brown, entered into rest Thursday, August 3, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung disease. He passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Tracy was born on July 27, 1940 and was one of three sons of Bennie Frank and Nellie Moore Brown. He grew up in Lincolnton, GA, and married Thelma on February 18, 1961. Tracy was the beloved father of three daughters. In July of 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years. After getting out of the Army, Tracy decided to rejoin the military by joining the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Air Force for 17 years working with the military police and legal departments. After serving for 20 years, he retired and returned to his hometown of Lincolnton. Tracy also had a lengthy career as a truck driver, with his CB handle being "Charlie Brown."
Tracy was known for his kind heart, love of family, compassion for others, and goofy sense of humor. He always tried to see the good in people. He made every grandchild and great-grandchild feel like they were his favorite. His talent of storytelling kept those around him laughing and smiling. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family, spending time outdoors, caring for his dog, Sweetie Pie, and learning about anything and everything. While Tracy wore many hats in his life, his favorite hats were "Daddy" and "Pawpaw." Tracy "loved Mama" most of all, and so together, they built a life they loved.
Left to cherish Tracy's memory is his wife of 62 years, Thelma Dorn Brown; daughters, Penny Arnett (Raymond), Crystal Gravitt (Rusty), and Lisa Creech ("Creech"); grandchildren, Erin Swearingen (Cristy), Tracy Reed, Rachel Eicher (Tanner), Glenn Creech III, Chelsea Creech, Ellie Gravitt, and Evan Gravitt; great-grandchildren, Emmalyne Cooper, Annabelle Smith, Harper Smith, Brooklyn Reed, Easton Eicher & Covington Eicher. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Frank and Nellie Moore Brown; and brothers, Terry Brown and Jack Brown.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, August 7, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Martin's Crossroads C.H. Church followed by the funeral at 4:00. Interment to immediately follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
