Towanna Dawn Hicks, LMSW

Thomson, GA- Mrs. Towanna Dawn Hicks, 41, of Thomson was killed instantly in a head on collision in Thomson, GA on Saturday, May 14, 2016.

Mrs. Hicks was the mother of three; two children, ages 21 and 17, and a step-son 8 years old.  She attended Augusta State University as an undergraduate and had worked as a Social Services Provider for the State of Georgia at East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta since graduating with honors from USC in 2013 with a Masters Degree in Social Work.  Mrs. Hicks was a genuine loving soul, dearly beloved by family, colleagues, and everyone whose lives she touched.  She was predeceased by her father, James Donald Vaughn, Jr.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Ben Hicks of Thomson, GA; daughter Amber Godowns of Harlem, GA; her son, Joshua Godowns of Thomson, GA; her step-son Cameron Hicks of Augusta, GA; her mother, Deborah Brown (Butch) of Adairsville, GA; her step-mother, Judy Vaughn of Wadley, GA; her brothers, Allen Vaughn of Keysville, GA and Darrell Pugh (Michelle) of Franklin, GA; her sisters, Amy Phillips (Jason) of Wadley, GA, Laura Eastmead (Eric) of Davisboro, GA, Crystal Treadway of Rome, GA, and Dawn Edmondson (Steve) of Adairsville, GA; and her step-sister, Michelle Baggett (Joe) of Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 5 o'clock p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the chapel at Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, GA with Rev. John Hill officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
