Tony Smith

Donnie Anthony "Tony" Smith, known affectionately as Tony to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Lincolnton, Georgia. Born on July 28, 1973, in Augusta, Georgia, Tony's life was marked by his loving nature, selflessness, and a remarkable ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. Tony's formative years in Augusta instilled in him a profound love for the outdoors, a legacy passed down from his father in camping all around Clarks Hill Lake. His father-in-law, Gene, introduced him to bass fishing, a hobby that blossomed into a lifelong passion. As a proud member of the Westside Bass Club, Tony not only perfected his angling skills but also forged deep friendships that would last a lifetime. Spiritually, Tony experienced a transformation about a year ago when he accepted Jesus as his savior. He found comfort and a sense of belonging at Martin's Crossroads C. H. Church, which became a place of peace and fellowship for him. Professionally, Tony made his mark as a project manager at Thompson Industrial while working at International Paper. His colleagues admired him for his unwavering dedication and the genuine warmth he brought to every initiative. Tony's professional life was characterized by his pursuit of excellence and his innate ability to lead with a perfect blend of strength and kindness. Tony's zest for life extended well beyond his career. He was often found camping at Wildwood Park, immersing himself in nature and creating lasting memories with his family. A lover of auctions, Tony delighted in the thrill of the hunt for hidden treasures, sharing his unique finds with those he held dear. His green thumb shone through in his love for planting and nurturing fruit trees, a testament to his nurturing spirit. But it was Tony's role as a father that truly defined him. His love for his six year old daughter, Hadley, his "Love Bug," was boundless. He relished every moment spent with her, filling her life with love, support, and the joy of their special song, singing, "She's Daddy's Love Bug, Yes sir-ree, Her Daddy's Love Bug, look at me, I love her, she loves me, yes sir-ree, Her Daddy's Love Bug." Tony is survived by his wife, Regina "Gina" Williams Smith, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. He had two children, Donnie Smith of Grovetown and Hadley Grace Smith. Tony's legacy continues through his grandson, Little Donnie Smith, who will grow up hearing tales of his grandfather's kindness and laughter. He is also remembered by his sister, Mel Richardson of Augusta.  Predeceased by his father, Donnie Smith Jr., his brother, Brandon Smith, and his father-in-law, Gene Williams.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Martin's Crossroads C. H. Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.  The interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family requests no flowers and wishes for contributions to be made to Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church.
