Tony William McKittrick, age 77, of Gills Point Rd, Georgia, passed away on April 6, 2026. He was born on March 20, 1949, in Anderson, South Carolina. He grew up on a dirt road in North Lincoln County. And he stayed there. He liked it. It was always home. He lived a simple life. He was a kind and gentle person. A man who loved his brothers and their children and who always wanted to be with them, He was selfless to a fault. Kindness guided the way he lived his life. He carried himself with a quiet way; an easy going and a generous man. Those who knew him will remember him as someone who was steadfast and deeply connected to his family and friends. He lived each day the way he thought it should be. Giving more than he received. He was always “Uncle Tony” to his nephews. The one who would always have a pocket of candy and like to wrestle with you. Some days he might let you win. But that did not apply to checkers.
He worked in the textile industry at J P Stevenson, where he was known for a strong work ethic. He suffered a serious head concussion at work that changed his life. One that later would contribute to his death. Tony took pride in doing his job and understood the value of work and that the character it built. Through the years, he made lasting friendships with those around him. He found ways to overcome the hardships of his life.
Tony enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting and fishing. He especially loved putting the pontoon boat in the water and fishing off of it. When his brothers gathered together with him to work or go fishing; that was his best day. It’s what he loved. It was what mattered most to him. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every opportunity to be in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Grace Evans McKittrick. He is survived by his brothers, Michael McKittrick and John Henry McKittrick II; his nephews: Mickel McKittrick II, Jacob McKittrick, John Henry McKittrick III and his niece, Amelia Marle McKittrick Gelhouse. His family will continue to remember loving heart, his kind words, and the selfless way he lived.
Tony William McKittrick will be remembered with affection by all who knew him. His life was a complete dedication to family, and the quiet goodness of life. He will be missed. The days he spent with us are over but the memories of him will continue to live on in the hearts of those of us who knew him.
A private burial is planned. A remembrance is planned after a period mourning.
