Tommie Lou Johnson Heard

Mrs. Tommie Lou Heard, 85 of Hill St., Washington, Ga. entered into rest on Wednesday, August 4, 2021   at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11 am at Tignall Baptist Church. Private interment will follow in the Tignall Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. Heard, daughter of the late Thomas and Katie Barrett Johnson was born in Augusta. At age 11, her family moved to Tignall. Soon thereafter, she met her sweetheart, Jack E. Heard who also lived in Tignall. She graduated from Tignall High School and she and Jack courted for about four years and were married in 1951.  During her career of 35 years as a dental hygienist, she was employed by J.A. Morrow, a local Washington, Ga. dentist. Following retirement, for many years, she and Jack camped in the mountains of North Georgia during the warm months and then to Florida in the colder months. She was a member of Tignall Baptist Church.  Besides camping, she enjoyed reading very much.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Jack W. Heard; daughter, Cathy H. Armour and husband Robert of Washington; grandchildren, Andrea Norman and husband Patrick of Savannah and Grier Armour of Washington State; sister, Gloria Johnson of Elberton; great- grandsons, Zach Norman and Alex Norman.
