Thomas Sturdivant
Thomas F. Sturdivant, Sr.
Martinez, GA- Mr. Thomas F. Sturdivant, Sr., 81, entered into rest September 1, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Revs. Randy Byrd, Mary Byrd and Wayne Ghann officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Sturdivant was the son of the late Clyde Sturdivant and the late Elizabeth Sherrer Sturdivant. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sturdivant lived in Warren County, GA for many years and later moved to Columbia County. He was retired from CSX Railroad and was the owner and operator of Sturdivant Repairs. He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church and he and his wife, Jean were active with Inner Peace Prison and Nursing Home Ministry. He was also a Mason.
Survivors include his wife,Jean Lovell Sturdivant, son, Franklin E. Sturdivant (Karen) of Rock Hill, SC; daughters, Susan Bafford, North Augusta, SC and Stephanie Sparks (Wesley) of Dearing, GA; step-children, Mechelle Parham, Cartersville, GA and Stephanie Lovell of Jacksonville, FL.; sisters, Mary Dawn Williams and Shirley Ghann both of Madison , GA
13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
Mr. Sturdivant was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Sturdivant, Jr. and daughter, Jerri Cobranchi.
It is the family's request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Bible Fellowship Church at 3701 Old Petersburg Rd. Martinez, Ga. 30907.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
