THOMAS H. "TOMMIE" MATHIS RETIRED WHOLESALER APPLING, GA -MR. TOMMIE MATHIS beloved husband of Bessie Lee Sanders Mathis entered into rest August 21, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Mathis was born October 18, 1914 in Bartow County, Georgia. He was a World War II Veteran, operated Tommie Mathis Wholesale Candy out of North Augusta, S.C. for 35 years, and retired to his small farm in Appling. He was also a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Additional survivors include a son Holley H. Mathis and his wife Elaine of Appling, GA, a daughter Pamela M. Foot and her husband David of Blairsville, GA. Grandchildren, Michael Smith-Foot of Covington, Thomas Smith of Appling, and Andrew Foot of Crawfordville. Three Great-Grandchildren, Eli, Avary & Asa Smith-Foot. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Sharon Baptist Church, Highway 150, Appling, GA with Rev. Andy Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
