Thomas A. Hammond

Mr. Thomas A. Hammond, 70 of Po Folks Lane, Lincolnton entered into rest on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11 am at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Members of Riverplace Hunting Club will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7pm until 9pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Hammond, son of the late George A. and Mildred Wells Hammond, was born in Tampa, Florida. At age 3, he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. During his childhood and life, he overcame many obstacles associated with the illness that he endured from such an early age. In 1981, he moved to Lincoln County.  He retired from Taylor Hyundai as a parts salesman in 2015. His favorite past-time was hunting and spending time with his grandson, Caleb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George Hammond.

Survivors include his daughters, Natalie Hammond of Savannah and Nicole H. Ivey and husband Matt of Hiram, Ga.; grandson, Caleb Ivey ; sister, Faye Kratzer and husband, Barry of Robbinsville, NC ; nieces, Noelle Hammond, Ashley Rockefeller, Fawn Knight; two great- nephews, and one great- niece.
