Theresa Faye Hyde Avant

Lincolnton, GA

Mrs. Theresa Faye Hyde Avant, 75, of Biscayne Dr., Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Augusta University Medical Center.

Mrs. Avant, daughter of the late Gilbert Neal Hyde and Katherine Sutton Hyde Massey, was born on November 28, 1945 in Franklin, Louisiana. She grew up in Augusta, Ga. and was a member of the first graduating class of Butler High School in 1963.

Mrs. Avant married Curley A. Avant, Jr. on December 10, 1971.  Curley's military career took them many places all over the country and the world. During that time, she had been employed by the Dept of the Army, Veterans Administration, Georgia Pacific and Cumberland County School System (North Carolina).

Mrs. Avant was known for her "green thumb" and enjoyed filling her yard with many different colorful flowers.  She enjoyed living at the lake and spending time on the boat with family and friends.  Faye also had a passion for cooking for those she loved and her Cajun heritage would come through in her food.

Faye was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Sutton Massey, father, Gilbert Neal Hyde and step- father Richard Drew Massey.  She is survived by her husband, Curley A. Avant, Jr.; sons, Jeffery N. Avant (Diane) of Monroe, NC, Allen G. Avant (Christi) of Buford, Ga.; grandchildren, Corey Avant, Lindsey Avant, Drew Avant, and Sammy Avant.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Wallbillich, Dr. Bunja Rungruang, the nurses and staff at the Georgia Cancer Center as well as the staff at Five North Augusta University Hospital for the care provided to Mrs. Avant.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25 from 6pm to 8pm at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton.
