Theodore Elwood “Ted” Finley, 66, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his residence. Born on July 8, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, Ted grew up in the Double Branches Community of Lincoln County and attended Martin’s Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church and Faith Temple when he was younger.
He enjoyed watching football and especially supporting the Red Devils each football season. His interests extended beyond sports. He had a particular fondness for collecting eagle figurines, a hobby that reflected his admiration for the majestic creatures. Ted delighted in connecting with others through social media, often browsing Facebook to stay engaged with friends and family. He also explored the emerging world of technology, using AI to create personal photographs that captured the essence of his experiences. In quieter moments, he found solace in smoking and savoring a cup of coffee, relishing the simple pleasures of life
.Following high school, Ted began working for the Georgia Forestry Commission until an unfortunate injury which changed his career path. He later found fulfillment in landscaping where his appreciation for nature shone through. He took great pride in the contributions that he made with the work he did.
Ted is survived by his beloved mother, Matilda Ashmore "Tillie" Finley. He will also be deeply missed by his brother, Tim Finley, and his wife, Kathy, of North Augusta, SC; his sister, Tangie F. McKinney, and her husband, Jeff, along with his nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Finley. As we remember Ted, we celebrate the life he led, the joy he brought to those around him, and the legacy of love and passion that will endure through his family and friends.
A graveside service to honor his memory will take place on December 31, 2025, at 2 o’clock p.m. at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery in Lincolnton, Georgia.Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Theodore Elwood Finley.
