Mesena, GA – Mr. Thad W. Simons, Sr., 87, entered into rest September 29, 2015.

Mr. Simons was born in Mesena, Georgia to the late David Simons and the late Mamie Thompson Simons. He served in the U. S. Navy. He retired from Civil Service at Ft. Gordon and was a cattle farmer. Mr. Simons was a member of Mesena United Methodist Church. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Henslee Simons and son, Leonard "Len" Simons.

Survivors include his sons, Thad W. Simons, Jr. (Betty) of St. Louis, MO, David W. Simons (Jamie) of Ninety Six, SC; daughter, Brenda D. Simons-Austin (Mike) of Reidsville, NC; and grandchildren, Kenneth A. Simons, Ellen L. Simons, Angela M. Austin and Daniel C. Simons.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Mesena United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Herring officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Mesena United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
