Mrs. Texas Mattox Cliatt

Mrs. Texas Mattox Cliatt, 96 wife of the late James Gibson Cliatt, formerly of Augusta Hwy. Lincolnton entered into rest on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

Mrs. Cliatt, the last surviving of 22 children born to her father, the late Nathan Francis Mattox and the last of 11 born to her mother, Lizzie Wells Mattox.  Mrs. Cliatt, the oldest member of New Hope Baptist Church, was a woman of very strong faith which sustained her following the death of her only son, John Nathan "Jack" Cliatt who died at the age of 16 on May 21, 1956 in a tragic farming accident.

She is survived by nieces and nephews including Linda G. Echols, Jimmie Goldman, Frances K. Holloway, uida K. Stinson, Mickey Norman, Louise P. Whitmore, and Virginia Yarbrough and many great- nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary beginning at 2:30 pm on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the church or charity of your choice.
