Terrell Holloway

James Terrell Holloway, known affectionately to friends and family as Terrell, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, in McCormick, South Carolina, at the age of 64. Born on June 7, 1960, in Abbeville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Walter Frank and Louise Bentley Holloway. Terrell's early years were spent in McCormick, where he attended McCormick High School, graduating with the class of 1976. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Piedmont Tech, where he began a career as a sewing machine technician. Terrell's technical acumen and work ethic were evident as he contributed significantly to numerous plants in the CSRA, including Talmadge, Reigel, Healthtex, Oxford, and FDB in Lincolnton. Although he lived in various communities such as Thomson and Lincolnton, Terrell's heart remained tied to McCormick, his childhood home, to which he eventually returned. As the textile industry evolved, Terrell's adaptability shone through when he enrolled in Augusta Tech and earned his HVAC certification. His expertise in this field led him to a career as the property maintenance director, where he dedicated 22 years of service. Terrell was known as a modern-day McGuyver - there was nothing he couldn't fix. His kind and handy nature was a blessing to all who knew him. Terrell was also a faithful member of Republican Methodist Church, where he served on numerous committees and capacities, including the role of chairman of trustees. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, and his thoughtful deeds and generosity knew no bounds. His pastimes included fishing, golf and hunting. He was an avid Dale Jarrett NASCAR fan.

He leaves behind his wife, Melinda Fay Holloway; children, Eric Browning and Rachel Browning; brother, Kenny Holloway, and sister-in-law Trish; and nieces and nephews, particularly his special niece, Stacy H. Wilson. Terrell's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Wesley Norris, Blaine Virgil, and Katelyn Browning, who will forever cherish memories of their kindhearted and handy PawPaw. Terrell's life was one of quiet dedication, unwavering love, and selfless service. His ability to bring warmth and comfort to those around him, both through his skilled hands and through his compassionate heart, was his gift to the world. He was a man who truly would give you the shirt off his back, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 3 pm at Republican Methodist Church.
