Mrs. Susan Renee Bufford Whitfield, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother,
sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Tignall,
GA, at the age of 52. Born on November 13, 1972, in Washington, GA, Susan
was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her.
Susan grew up in a close-knit family and carried those values of kinship and
warmth throughout her life. She was the beloved daughter of Leroy Bufford
and Judy Martin Helms. Susan's life was enriched by her loving siblings, Billy
Bufford, Cody Beggs and his wife Julie, and sister Amy Howard with her
husband Tommy. The bonds she shared with her family were unbreakable and
cherished. Her sister, Krissy Beggs preceded her in death.
After graduating from Lincoln County High School, Susan found her calling as
a project coordinator for Windstream, where she was known for her
dedication, warmth, and ability to bring people together. Her professional life
was marked by a strong work ethic and a genuine concern for her colleagues
and clients.
Susan's heart found its match in her husband, Joseph Ramsey Whitfield, with
whom she built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together,
they raised three wonderful children: a son, Joseph Ramsey Whitfield II, and
his wife Haley; daughters, Katherine Olivia Whitfield and Morgan Davenport,
along with her husband Lee. Susan's role as a grandmother to Jace and
Lainey Whitfield and Daniel and Hunter Davenport was one she embraced
with all her heart, showering them with affection and wisdom.
A woman of faith, Susan was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church,
where she found spiritual solace and a community of friends who shared her
beliefs and values. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, providing comfort
and strength in times of need.
Susan's passions extended beyond her family and work. She was an avid
gardener, finding peace and contentment in the soil and blooms of her garden.
Her talents in canning vegetables were well-known, and her cooking brought
people together around the table. An artist at heart, Susan expressed her
creativity through painting, capturing the beauty of the world as she saw it.
In years past, she enjoyed horseback riding and her love for animals was evident through her two dogs and cat that she held dear in recent years.
As we remember Susan, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and a
generous spirit. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy will continue to
inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Susan's memory
will be held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11am at Beulah Baptist Church.
