Scott Stephens

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Elliott Scott Stephens, 43 of Evans, Ga. He entered into rest on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in Lincoln County.

Scott was born on January 26, 1978 in Augusta, GA. He grew up in Thomson, GA and attended Thomson High School. He has resided in Evans, GA since 2011, where he and wife are raising their 5 boys.  He was employed by McCutcheon's Heating and Air Conditioning for the past 7 years.  Although Scott had been a jack of all trades; working in the landscape and residential irrigation industry, home building and professional hunting guide.

Scott was passionate about taking his boys hunting as he believed that getting them back into God's creation was a vital lesson in the proximity of God to us. He also enjoyed catching enough fish to host a fish fry for friends and family.  Golfing was a pastime that he excelled in.  Scott took every opportunity to participate in charity golf tournaments, whether for families in need with medical expenses or bereavement, Augusta Animal Rescue Friends and most recently Toys for Tots.

Scott was a loving and supportive father that spent a lot of his time on the sidelines of his son's baseball and football games. He loved to watch them play and always had videos and pictures of them in action to share with anyone he met. He would cheer on his son's teammates as well, always there to give high fives and share advice. He loved coaching Pop Warner football and certainly impacted many young lives that way.

Scott rarely met a stranger. Nearly everywhere that he went, he ran into someone that he knew. He was always calling to check on his friends, especially those he knew were going through hard times. Scott would rarely tell anyone no. If someone called and needed his help, he would be there in no time, ready to fix whatever needed to be fixed. He was a generous man in more ways than one.  He was the neighborhood handyman, always ready to help, never expecting anything in return.  However, he was truly happiest spending time with his wife and boys.

Scott will be greatly missed by his wife Katie Danner Stephens; sons, Elliott Beau Stephens age 19, Brayden Lane Stephens age 14, Sawyer Bryce Stephens age 8, Joseph Brenan Stephens age 6, Daniel Gage Stephens age 3; parents, Glenn and Karen Stephens of Evans; brothers, William Deloach of Martinez and Paul Stephens (Katy) of Elberton; sister, Amanda Segars of Danielsville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Randy and Debbie Danner and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Linda McDaniel Stephens; maternal and paternal grandparents; sister-in-law, Dana Michelle Danner; first cousin, Christa Marie Stephens.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 3:30pm at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2pm until 3:15pm in the church fellowship hall.  In keeping with Scott's simple nature, the family requests that service attendees please dress casually.
