Samuel Kelly Wood

Mr. Samuel Kelly Wood, 94, of Thomson, Georgia, entered into rest on July 13, 2021.

He was born in 1926 at his grandmother, Mary Ellen Arrington Kelley's house near Dearing, Georgia.  Said grandmother raised him until he went into the Navy at age seventeen. He served his Country until World War II ended, and when he came back, he married the love of his life, Doris Hammond.  Their marriage lasted over sixty years until her death.  Mr. Wood was a master welder who operated several businesses.  He was Baptist by faith and a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.  He loved his family and friends very much.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother; his mother, Pauline Kelley Wood Simons; his father, Samuel Wood; and his beloved wife, Doris Wood.  His survivors include his daughter, Kay Wood Faircloth of Dublin, Georgia; his grandson, Brandon Faircloth and wife, Leslie of Dublin, Georgia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
