Samuel Marcus McNair, Jr.

Dearing, GA – Mr. Samuel Marcus "Sam" McNair, Jr., 65, entered into rest Thursday, August 8, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Fort Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Bray and Rev. Eddie Renew officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Paul McNair, Larry Hawkins, Lynn Hawkins, Floyd Huff, Jason Powell and George Holliman. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of Dearing Fire Department and Pea Ridge Fire Department.

Mr. McNair was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and was the son of the late Samuel Marcus "Doc" McNair, Sr. and the late Katherine Washington McNair. He was retired

from Blair Construction as a truck driver. Mr. McNair was also retired from the Dearing Fire Department and the Pea Ridge Fire Department with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church. Mr. McNair was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Rebecca " Becky" McNair; sons, Lee Hawkins (Michelle), Lynn Hawkins, Larry Hawkins ( Misty), Scott Craven; daughters, Angel Kent (Shane), Billie Jean Portwood (Joey), sister, Kaye Powell; grandchildren, Lee Portwood, Jessica Portwood, Lily Craven, Bryan Hawkins, Jay Hawkins, Jessica Hawkins, Marc Hawkins, Paige Hawkins, Hunter Hawkins, Makayla Kent, Mackenzie Kent, Madison Kent, Christopher Kent, Chyenne Hawkins and Kyle Hawkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. McNair was preceded in death by a grandson, Joah Hawkins.
