Roy Barney Parkerson, Jr., 76, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2022.

Roy was born in Augusta, Georgia on June 14, 1945, grew up in Thomson, Georgia and lived most of his life in Thomson, Georgia.  He was Christian by faith and a member and Deacon of Faith Baptist Church.  Roy loved serving his Lord and his Church, enjoyed fishing, small engine repair, carpentry and cutting grass.  He especially loved spending time with his friends and family.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Barney Parkerson, Sr. and Marie Chalker Parkerson; his sisters, Zola Kennedy and Sterling Reese; and his grandson, Steven Brandon Rhodes.  His survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dianne Reese Parkerson; his daughters, Martha Parkerson Beckworth, Lynn Howell (John), Donna Rhodes (Joe) and Melissa Rabun (Lynn); his sister, Geraldine Meadows; and his grandchildren, Jacob Hinton, Dawn Appleton, Brandy Skvarca, Mandy Glenn, Shana Beckworth, Tanner Howell, Timmy Rabun, and Tiffany Rabun; and 20 great grandchildren.

His visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, and his Funeral Service, being officiated by Rev. Don Widener and Rev. Chad Widener, will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia with the interment at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens following the service.  Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family's personal guestbook.
