MR. ROY NEAL JOHNSON, 89 of Atlanta Hwy., Norwood, GA entered into rest August 13, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Ailene Smith Johnson for 65 years.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Norwood Baptist Church with Revs. John Jenkins and Daniel Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Scruggs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Dave Hunter, Dan Hunter, Andy Hunter, Scott Johnson, Gary Johnson, Doug Johnson, Carl Johnson, Mike Johnson, Neal Hunter, Katelyn Hunter and Amy Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Norwood Baptist and the members of the Men's Bible Class.
Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Warren County and was the son of the late Masburn Johnson and the late Josie Dye Johnson. He served in the 99th Division of the U. S. Army during WWII and was engaged in three major campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Johnson was retired as a truck driver with National Homes after 28 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Norwood Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson was also a member of the Disabled Veterans Association and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ailene Smith Johnson of Norwood,GA; son, Pat Johnson and his wife Teresa of Waynesboro, GA; daughter, Gail Hunter and her husband David of Washington, GA; brothers, Howard Johnson of Thomson, GA, Bobby W. Johnson of Camak, GA and Margia "Smokey" Johnson of Norwood, GA; sister, Joe Ann Hardebeck of Gibson, GA; grandchildren, Dave Hunter, Dan Hunter, Andy Hunter, Scott Johnson and Amy Jackson; great-grandchildren, Neal Hunter and Katelyn Hunter. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, Adrian Neal Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
