Roy Eugene "Gene" Palmer

Mr. Roy Eugene "Gene" Palmer, 87, of Thomson, GA entered into rest January 11, 2024.

Mr. Palmer was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, GA and the son of the late Edward Palmer and the late Marie Cox Palmer. Gene was the youngest of 13 children. He served in the United States Marines. Mr. Palmer was retired as a welder from the local union and had worked on the construction of many power plants. He enjoyed the outdoors and working around his home and was known as the "scupadine man". In addition to his parents, Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Palmer and a grandson Jeremy Hayes.

Survivors include his son, Mark Palmer (Paula) of Augusta, GA; daughter, Tina P. Lewis (Shawn) of Thomson, GA; sister, Frances McMichael of Thomson, GA; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, January 16th in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm, Monday, January 15th at the funeral home.
