ROY WARREN EDWARDS CARPENTER MR. ROY WARREN EDWARDS, 86 of Salem Rd. Thomson, GA entered into rest August 24, 2009 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Ruby Benson Edwards for 61 years. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Sweetwater Baptist Church with Rev. Richard C. Dendler officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Glenn Edwards, Tim Edwards, Lee Blackburn, Matt Echols, Buz Dent and Chuck Cason. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the C. D. Cason Sunday School Class and members of the William Prescott Sunday School Class. Mr. Edwards was born in Warren County but has lived in McDuffie County most of his life. He was the son of the late Elias Duval "Babe" Edwards and the late Alma Reese Edwards. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery Unit during WWII in Germany and France. He was retired as a carpenter. Mr. Edwards was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church where he served as a past Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Teacher and served on the Properties Committee. He was a member of the C. D. Cason Sunday School Class and was also a Deacon Emeritus. Survivors include his wife: Ruby Benson Edwards and son, Ronnie Edwards both of Thomson, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Memorials may be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church Renovation Fund 1606 Wrens Hwy. Thomson, GA 30824. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
