Rosa Mae Reed passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, in Tignall, Georgia, at the age of 93.
Born on April 14, 1931, in Wadley, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Steve and Madie Meeks. Rosa Mae, as she was affectionately known, lived a life marked by friendship, love, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her. Rosa Mae's life was characterized by her dedication to her family and her work. She was married to her husband, Herbert "Piccolo" Reed, for 68 years until his passing. Together, they raised a family and built a lifetime of memories.
She is survived by her children, Sharon R. Dorn (Johncy), Billy Reed, and Steven Reed (Debbra); grandchildren; Lori H. Holliday, Austin Reed, Crafton Reed, Dalton Reed, Garrett Reed, and Stephanie Partridge, great grandchildren; Brooklyn Reed, Ellie Reed, Rylee Reed, Fortson Partridge, Will Partridge, Everleigh Reed, and Hailey Holliday, great great grandchildren; Landon Griffin and Kazlyn Gary, and her sister, Janis M. McArthur.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Laura H. Reed, her grandson, Caz Dorn, her sisters, Hazel Meeks Crite and Eloise Meeks White, and her brothers, Don Meeks and Steve Meeks. Her professional life was equally rich, having retired from Oxford Manufacturing after over 30 years of dedicated service. Rosa Mae's work ethic and friendly demeanor made her a respected and well-loved figure among her colleagues and within the community. Upon retirement, Rosa Mae and her husband found great pleasure in the outdoors. They spent many years camping and fishing, always making new friends along the way. Rosa Mae's love for reading was well-known, and she could often be found with a book in hand, lost in a world of stories and knowledge. Rosa Mae was a beautiful lady who never looked her age. Her life was a portrait of compassion and friendliness, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her gentle presence will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. As we bid farewell to Rosa Mae Reed, we celebrate her remarkable journey through life, a journey filled with laughter, love, and an abundance of friendships. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were touched by her warm spirit. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 2pm at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior the funeral in the church sanctuary.
