Ronald "Ronnie" Henry Tullis

Ronald Henry "Ronnie" Tullis, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2024 at his residence in Evans, Georgia. Born on November 21, 1945, in Augusta, Georgia, Ronnie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for learning and skilled craftsmanship. Ronnie's educational journey was a testament to his belief in lifelong learning. After graduating from the Academy of Richmond County in 1963, he honed his skills as a machinist at Augusta Vocational School the same year. His quest for knowledge continued at Augusta Area Technical School, where he studied Drafting and Design Technology in 1965, and later at Augusta College, where he took courses in 1969. Ronnie further expanded his expertise at the DeVry Institute of Technology, specializing in Home Entertainment Electronics in 1975, and at Augusta Area Technical School, where he embraced the digital age with studies in Computer Literacy, Basic Programming, and AutoCAD in 1992. Committed to professional development, he also completed courses in Supervision, Management, and Leadership at Georgia Power between 1974 and 1994. Ronnie's work ethic was unparalleled. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, drafted in October 1966. After basic training at Fort Jackson, SC, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Hood, Texas, he served as a battalion machinist during a tour in Vietnam in 1968. Honorably discharged in October 1972, he carried the discipline and skills he acquired into his civilian life. Ronnie's career included positions at the family-owned Tullis Service Station, as a welder for Ireland Equipment Co., and as a draftsman for Hallmark Homes. However, his most significant professional achievement was his 44-year tenure at Georgia Power, a division of the Southern Company, where he applied his vast array of skills and knowledge. Ronnie was a man of faith who loved sharing his relationship with Jesus Christ. He was a member of Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia. After losing his first wife Tina M. Tullis, he married Zandra H. Tullis and his legacy lives on through his children, Jeaneen (Will) Sasser, Chris (April) Tullis, Kristen (Jeff) Levinsohn, and Greg (Laura Johnson - fiance) Young; grandchildren, Charity (John) Yow, Karson Bowles, Trey (Sidney) Tullis, Michael Levinsohn, Kyle Young, Rebecca Sasser, Michael Tullis, Kelby Levinsohn, Holt Young, Tina (Andrew) Duncan, and Brandt Young and his great-grandchildren, Harper Moore, Freya Tullis, Grayson Quarles, River Levinsohn, and Brinley Duncan, along with the eagerly awaited Baby Duncan of 2025. In addition to his first wife Tina, he was preceded in death by his grandson Connor Bowles. Ronnie was a man who could fix almost anything, a handy and loving individual who never met a stranger. He took great pleasure in imparting wisdom and sharing stories with those around him. His ability to connect with people and his generous spirit were hallmarks of his character. Ronnie's love for his family was evident in the time he dedicated to them, creating a wealth of cherished memories that will be held dear by all who knew him. Ronnie Tullis's life was a tapestry of service, family, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Ronnie's journey through life was one of purpose, love, and the unyielding belief that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
