Robert "Bobby" Lewis Biles, Jr.

Robert Lewis "Bobby" Biles, a man whose mechanical genius left an indelible mark on both his industry and his loved ones, passed away on November 5, 2024, in Lincoln County, Georgia.

Born on January 3, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, Bobby was the son of the late Robert Lewis and Nell Moore Biles. His life was a testament to dedication, ingenuity, and the joy found in simple pleasures. Bobby grew up in Atlanta, where he attended local schools and graduated from high school. From a young age, he followed in the footsteps of his family's trade in the tool and die business. His natural aptitude for mechanics and problem-solving became the cornerstone of his career. Bobby's talent shone brightly during his tenure at Westinghouse, where he traveled across the United States to coal and nuclear power plants. His work refurbishing turbines, which ranged from 20 to 200 tons, was not just a job but a display of his exceptional ability to devise machining solutions for seemingly insurmountable problems. Over his 60-year career, Bobby became a mentor and a teacher to many in the industry. The knowledge he imparted and the skills he taught have left a legacy that continues to thrive in the hands of those he trained. After a fulfilling career with Westinghouse, he formed his own business, USA Machine.

His life was rich with interests beyond his professional achievements. He was a man who found joy in the everyday, from driving and tinkering with his old Jeep truck to searching for Native American artifacts. A lifelong fan of the Atlanta Falcons and NASCAR, Bobby's enthusiasm for his interests was infectious. His love for animals and his culinary talents were known to all who knew him. Those close to him often remarked that he missed his calling as a chef, such was his skill in the kitchen. He dearly missed his wife, Della, who passed away in 2014. His love for her was a guiding force in his life.

Bobby is survived by his sons, Richard Biles of Augusta, Danny Biles and wife Jan and Terry Biles and wife Susan all of Lincolnton; brother, Billy Biles and wife Jennifer of Destin, FL. ; five grandchildren, Brooks Thompson and husband Brandon, Daniel Biles and wife Misty, Robert Biles, Jantzen Biles and wife Kayla, and Brandon Biles and wife Holly. In addition, he leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, Olin, Serenity, Cooper, Madison, Trenton, Cameron and Asher.
