No service is planned at this time, but a visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Opie was predeceased by his father, Bobby Quarles, and is survived by a loving family that cherished every moment spent with him. His mother, Mary Nell McKellar Quarles of Thomson, GA, will fondly remember her son's unwavering kindness and strength. Opie's legacy continues through his children: son Dustin Quarles and his wife Laura of Cleveland, GA; daughters Haylee Quarles and her partner Nick of Dawsonville, GA, and Ansley Martin of Lincolnton, GA. His brothers, Thomas Waites, Kirk Quarles, and Kevin Quarles, all of Thomson, GA, will miss their brother's camaraderie and infectious humor. Opie's joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Zoe, Jake, Kannan, and Carolina, who will carry the memory of their grandfather's love and playful spirit. For many years, Opie dedicated his life to the roads as a truck driver for McKellar Logging. His work ethic and reliability made him a respected figure among his colleagues and within the logging community. Opie's association with his fellow truckers extended beyond the professional realm, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story that would lighten the heart. Opie's passion for the outdoors was evident to all. He found solace and excitement in fishing, where the quiet patience of the sport contrasted with the thrill of the catch. Hunting was another pursuit that brought Opie peace, as he respected the balance of nature and the skill it required. Mud bogging was a pastime that showcased Opie's adventurous side, as he reveled in the camaraderie and the adrenaline-fueled fun that came with the sport. Opie's life was a testament to the simple joys that make a life rich and fulfilling. His presence was a source of stability and joy for his family, and his absence will be deeply felt. Yet, the memories of his laughter, the stories he shared, and the love he spread will continue to inspire and comfort those he left behind. Robert Coleman Quarles lived a life full of passion, laughter, and love. His journey may have ended, but his spirit will forever roam the woods and waters he so dearly loved.
