Rita C. Gassaway

Mrs. Rita Faye Carroll Gassaway of McCormick Hwy. entered into rest on Wednesday, February 12th  at her residence. She was 52 years old.

Mrs. Gassaway, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, was a native of McCormick, and  graduated from  Piedmont Tech  with a degree in secretarial science. She had been a correctional officer with South Carolina Dept. of Corrections until she became disabled. Preceding her in death were her father,  William Garnett Carroll, brother, William Michael Carroll, and her mother, Claudia Faye Smalley, passed away recently.

She will be greatly missed by her family which includes:

Husband: David Jeffery Gassaway

Sons: Mark Mitchell Coleman, and wife Alicia of Lincolnton

John Kevin Coleman, Thomson

Daughters:

Kayce Renee Harris and husband, Clayton

Kayla Nicole Harris and husband, Zach, all of Lincolnton

Brothers:

Jeffery Scott Carroll and wife, Rosanna

Timothy Samson Carroll, and wife, Sylvia

Benjamin Andrew Smalley  all of Lincolnton

Grandchildren: Brianna Lynn Coleman, Lianna Elyse Coleman, Brookelyn Mashelle Harris, Austin Jeffery Harris, and Abigail Rose Harris

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February16th at  3p.m. at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Church with Rev. James James officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7pm until 9pm on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
