Richard Albert Post, known affectionately as Rick to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, in McCormick, South Carolina. Born on May 19, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Rick was a man of intelligence, deep faith, and boundless creativity.
Raised in Lincoln Park, Michigan, Rick was the son of Alice and Marion Post. He graduated from Lincoln Park High School in January 1968 and went on to earn an Associate Degree from Henry Ford Community College, followed by a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and Industrial Management from Baker College. His educational achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished 36-year career with Ford Motor Company, where he was respected for his exceptional work ethic and pride in a job well done. In 1972, Rick married his beloved wife, Cheryl Panick, and together they raised two sons, Richard II, married to Tisha, and Nathan. Rick was a loving grandfather to Christian Trombley and his wife Lindsey, Lauren, Lucas, and Jacob Post, and a proud great-grandfather to Hunter Trombley. He is survived by his siblings Rodney Post, Renee Thompson and her husband Gene, Roberta Post, and Roger Post, as well as his sister-in-law, Christine Post. He was preceded in death by his brother Randy Post. Rick's professional journey at Ford Motor Company was marked by his progression from a production worker to achieving his tool and die journeymanship. He excelled in various roles, including high-cost accounting, process engineering, and supervision at Ford's Rouge Complex. After retiring in 2007, Rick found a new passion in teaching, sharing his knowledge and experience with students at Aiken Technical College. Family was Rick's number one priority, and he demonstrated this through his active involvement in his sons' lives, particularly in the realm of sports. He coached football from little league to high school in Allen Park, Michigan, and also coached basketball and baseball. Rick was a mentor not only to his sons but to many young men, fostering a lasting impact that led them to still affectionately call him "dad." Rick's love for history was evident in his enjoyment of visiting historical sites with his family and friends. He eagerly looked forward to sharing this passion with his grandchildren. His interest in golf began at age 12 as a caddie at a course near his childhood home near Detroit where he became an avid golfer. Rick's dream of living on a golf course came true when he retired to Savannah Lakes Village in South Carolina. His creative spirit shone through in his woodworking, as he loved building and refinishing furniture. Rick and his wife cherished their time together on antique buying trips.
A man of strong faith, Rick studied the Bible daily and started a weekly Bible study in 1976, which he continued until his passing. He was a tremendous witness for his Lord, Jesus Christ, and maintained his faith throughout his four-year battle with cancer. Rick will be remembered for his intelligence, his faith-filled life, and his creative spirit. His priorities of God, family, and country were the guiding principles that shaped a life well-lived. Rick Post leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and the profound influence he had on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched.
