Mr. Richard Hansel Phillips, 69 of Thomson Rd. entered into rest on Tuesday, Feb. 19th at his residence Mr. Phillips, native of Soperton, was the son of the late Marion Phillips and Lillie Pearl Hightower Pinkston. He had served in the U.S. Army, and was a retired Ga Forestry District Ranger. In 1984, he moved to Wilkes County from Jefferson County. Shortly afterwards, he became a member of Victory Baptist Church.. His first wife, Angelia Brown Phillips, preceded him in death in 1998 and their son, Greg Phillips, passed away just a few months ago. Survivors: Wife: Brenda C. Phillips Daughter: Rebecca Lynne Norton, and husband, Casey of Eatonton Step-daughter: Stephanie Haynes, Augusta Step-son: Steven Currie, and wife, Sharon of North Carolina Sisters: Hilda Alfrey, Kentucky Bobbie Bryan, Texas 6 Grandchildren Funeral services will held on Friday, February 22nd at 2 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton. Interment will follow at Double Branches Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from noon until the hour of the funeral at the funeral home.
