Richard Charles Ellison

Richard Charles Ellison passed away on June 1, 2026, at his home in Lincolnton, Georgia, following a tragic house fire. He was 73 years old. Born on November 6, 1952, in Oklahoma, he lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and a genuine appreciation for the simple joys that made each day meaningful. Richard was the beloved son of Henry and Betty Coe Ellison, both of whom preceded him in death. He carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life and met others with a steady presence, a kind spirit, and a dependable nature that earned him the respect and affection of those who knew him. He was especially devoted to his mother and loved her deeply, and his family takes comfort in knowing that they are reunited now.

Richard’s journey into the healing arts began with a deeply personal loss. His father received an adjustment from a chiropractor that resulted in a blood clot being dislodged and his death. That experience set Richard on a lifelong path to understand the human body and to help ensure that others might be treated with greater care. He pursued his education with dedication and earned a degree in Neuromuscular Therapy, a field that reflected his desire to help others and make a positive difference in their lives. He studied tirelessly, developed a deep understanding of how muscles and bones needed to be treated together, and eventually published at least one book on human anatomy. Through his work, Richard became known for his skill and his thoughtful approach. He provided chiropractic adjustments and gave invigorating deep muscle massages, always striving to get to the root of a problem rather than merely address its surface. He built and operated his own business, demonstrating both initiative and perseverance. His professionalism, responsibility, and commitment to serving others left a lasting impression on those who trusted him with their care. At times, he was known to share one of his favorite Keystone beers with patients after an adjustment, a small gesture that reflected his easygoing nature and the comfort he brought to those around him.

Outside of his professional life, Richard found great enjoyment in the activities and traditions that brought him happiness. He loved fishing, camping, and boating, and he treasured the time spent outdoors, where he could enjoy the peace of nature. He was also a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and took great pleasure in cheering them on through the seasons. These interests were more than pastimes to Richard. They were part of the rhythm of his life and reflected the warmth and enthusiasm he brought to the things he loved.

Richard also held a connection to his faith community and had attended Double Branches Baptist Church beginning around 2000. His faith and fellowship were important parts of his life, and he valued the sense of belonging and shared purpose that came from being among others in worship. Even after losing his vision, Richard’s humor never left him. He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and an engaging personality that brightened the lives of those around him. He was also an intellectual, a walking encyclopedia, and a current events guru who kept up with world news and politics. He was always ready for a spirited debate, and his sharp mind and lively conversation made him a memorable presence wherever he went.

He is survived by his cousins, Les Knoblock, Ronald Knoblock, and Lee Gladding, who will cherish his memory and carry forward the legacy of his life. Richard’s family and friends will remember him for his steady character, his gentle manner, and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him. His passing leaves a deep void, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and gratitude to those who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11 o’clock a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga.
