Thomson, GA-Dr. Charles Richard Dendler, 77, good and faithful servant to the Lord Jesus Christ for sixty years, was welcomed home on August 15, 2015. Dr. Dendler was the pastor of Blythe Baptist Church, Blythe, Georgia.
Dr. Dendler, "Doc," was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Charles William and Fleda Dendler. Dr. Dendler gave his heart to the Lord at an early age and surrendered his life to the ministry at the age of 17. He graduated from both Cumberland College and Georgetown College, followed by a masters degree from Southern Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and then received his doctorate degree from Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Dendler married Janice Henry, also of Cincinnati, in 1959. Together, and according to His purpose, he and Jann faithfully and lovingly served churches throughout Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky. Dr. Dendler served the Sweetwater Baptist Church of Thomson, Georgia, from 1974 to 1979. He served as Associate Pastor, Church Growth, at Florence Baptist Church, Florence, Kentucky, until his retirement in 2004, when he returned to Thomson, eventually accepting the call as pastor of Blythe Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Janice Dendler; son, Rick Dendler (Toni) of St. Augustine, Florida; daughter, Becky Windham (Ted) of Harlem, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Meghann and David Henry Dendler of St. Augustine, Florida; his brother, Norman Dendler of Hamilton, Ohio and his sisters, Jean Owens of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lorraine Head of Hamilton, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Blythe Baptist Church, Blythe, and at 4:00 p.m., at Sweetwater Baptist Church, Thomson, followed by interment in the Sweetwater Cemetery. Dr. Leonard Dupree will officiate, along with Rev. Patrick Webb.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, Georgia.
