Richard Eugene Adams, Sr., 77, of Dearing, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2023.

Richard was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 23, 1946, was a lifelong resident of Dearing, Georgia, a 1964 graduate of Thomson High School and later attended Augusta Technical College.  He worked in the family's Dearing Supermarket, running the store for his family for 30 years, was the local butcher, and later worked with Gracewood School and Hospital as a client specialist and butcher until he retired.  Richard was active in the Dearing Community, knew where everyone lived, and knew what you were having for dinner if you shopped with him.  Before GPS, even the EMS would stop by to get directions for a home.  He was Baptist by faith and an active member of Dearing Baptist Church.  Richard was a former Dearing City Council Member, volunteer firefighter and EMS, local historian, advocational archaeologist, expert on regional Native American History, and led educational programs for local schools on Georgia prehistory.  Richard worked with missions and prison ministry and was a Sunday School teacher, Royal Ambassador Leader, Youth Committee, and Disaster Relief member for over 20 years.  He was an award winning storyteller and loved spending time with his family and friends, studying history, and praying for people.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Adams and Elizabeth Whitaker Adams and his brother, Raymond Adams.  His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Guy; his son, Richard Eugene Adams, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia; his daughter, Andrea Adams Farmer (Kyle) of Savannah, Georgia; his brother, Donald Adams (Laura) of Dearing, Georgia; his sister, Jane Richards (Jon) of Dearing, Georgia; his brother-in-law, David Guy (JoAnn) of Clover, SC; his sister-in-law, Reba Adams of Dearing, Georgia; his granddaughter, Ellis Farmer; his grandson, Marcus Farmer; and a host of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Dearing Baptist Church.  His Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary with Rev. Mike Timmerman officiating and Rev. Jon Richards assisting.  The Interment will follow in the Dearing City Cemetery.  Pallbearers for the service are the Deacons of Dearing Baptist Church.
