Ricardo Elias Herrera

Ricardo Elias Herrera passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Appling, Georgia, at the age of 62. Born on January 18, 1963, in Orlando, Florida, Ricardo was a man whose life was characterized by his kindness, selfless nature, and the remarkable ability to fix and create with his hands. Ricardo grew up in Apopka, Florida, the son of Victor and Opal Senters Herrera, both of whom predeceased him, as did his brothers Marty and Benjamin Herrera. His life was enriched by the love and companionship of his devoted wife, Cindy Herrera, their daughter, Jessica Ramos, his sons, Richard, Dakota, and David, his daughter, Amber, stepson, Adán Reyes, and twelve grandchildren who were the joy of his life. He was a brother to many, sharing life's journey with Isaias, Daniel, Adonias, Victoriano, Jonathan, and Nathaniel Herrera, as well as his sisters, Amelia and Lynette Herrera. Ricardo's journey led him from Waverly, Ohio, where he spent many years working with his employers Larry Turner and Franklin Township in cemetery maintenance serving his community with dedication, ensuring that the final resting places of loved ones were tended to with respect and care, to Appling, Georgia. He moved there approximately four and a half years ago after he was reunited with Cindy.  They fell in love when they were 18 and 19 years of age and parted ways a few years later. He never married until he and Cindy met again in 2020, as she was the only woman he truly loved.  His friends said they had never seen him as happy as he had been since he and Cindy reunited.

A man of faith, Ricardo was a member of Turnpoint Ministries of Waverly during his travels and in his stay in Ohio and recently found his home church with Faith Community of Lincolnton, Georgia. An avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Ricardo's enthusiasm for his team was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion amongst him and his friends. Ricardo's love for vegetable gardening was more than a hobby; it was a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit. The fruits of his labor not only nourished his family but also symbolized the growth and care he invested in all aspects of his life. Those who knew Ricardo will remember him as the epitome of kindness and selflessness. Ricardo was a man whose presence could light up any room. He possessed a remarkable sense of humor and his positive outlook was unwavering, regardless of the challenges he faced. He had an extraordinary ability to see the silver lining in every cloud, and his optimism was a source of strength and comfort to his loved ones. His innate talent for bringing people together was evident in every aspect of his life.

All floral contributions should be delivered to the family. Beggs Funeral Home Lincolnton will not be conducting any of the memorial services.
