Rebecca Anthony Tucker, affectionately known as Becky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at her family home in Washington, Ga., surrounded by the love of her family.
Daughter of the late Edward and Edith Williamson Anthony, she was born on June 3, 1948 in Washington. Becky was the embodiment of the word "homegrown," having spent most of her life on the property where her grandparents once lived. She graduated from Washington Wilkes High School in 1965. A few years later, on December 15, 1967, Becky married her soulmate, Melvin Lamar Tucker, and together they built a warm and welcoming home on the very land she had always cherished.
When she was younger, she was an active member of Victory Baptist Church, she touched many lives through her involvement and teaching at Victory Christian School. In more recent years, she had attended Tignall Baptist Church. Her caring nature extended beyond the classroom as she served her community in various capacities, including helping with the Wilkes Academy cafeteria and as a friendly receptionist at Dr. Kuppuswamy's office. Becky's talents knew no bounds, as she was also known for her delectable baked goods at Another Thyme Cafe. Family was the cornerstone of Becky's life, and she took immense joy in caring for her grandchildren. She was a loving presence in their lives, from babysitting them when they were small to sharing her passions with them as they grew. Her love for cooking and mowing her yard were activities that not only brought her personal fulfillment but also created cherished memories for her family. She is survived by her sons, Brad Tucker and his wife Vonnie, and Kevin Tucker and his wife Lori; her brother, Gene Anthony, all of Washington; and her sister, Jane Anderson of Charleston; grandchildren, Kolbi, Justin, Jake, and Barrett Tucker, and great-grandchild Lane Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lamar Tucker and sisters, Elizabeth Denard and Pat Griffin. A woman of simplicity and grace, Becky requested that there be no services held in her honor. Her life was a living service, one filled with the acts of love and kindness that defined her.
Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Rebecca Anthony "Becky" Tucker.
