Raymond Eugene "Gene" Westbrook, Jr., 84, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on June 13, 2024

Gene was born in Chester, South Carolina on January 28, 1940, grew up in Chester and joined the Air Force after graduation. After serving in the Air Force, he settled in Savannah, Georgia and taught in the machinist program there until later moving to the Augusta area to start the machinist program at Augusta Tech and worked at Augusta Tech until his retirement.  Gene enjoyed working with his hands and creating and designing landscapes, benches and bridges and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Eugene Westbrook, Sr. and Jessie Mae Hardin Westbrook; his sister, Emily Anne Brown and his son, Raymond McDonald Westbrook.  Gene's survivors include his wife of 42 years, Judy Perkins Westbrook; his sons, Michael Westbrook, William Braddy and Randy Braddy (Michelle); his daughters, Gina Westbrook Raines (David); Susan Hedlund and Melissa Braddy Powers (Eddie); six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on June 30, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia.  His Memorial Service, being officiated by Dr. Steve Dodson, will be held after the visitation at 3:00 p.m. in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel.  Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family's personal guestbook.
